Background

Hello: My name is

Philip L. Stevens

I am a Republican running for the 27th District House of Delegates. I am pro-life, pro-family values, and pro-reform; including tax, tort, and political reform. You may contact me with questions or input concerning issues important to you.

WHY I AM RUNNING FOR THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES:

West Virginia has been dominated by the democratic party for over 70 years. We have sent the same people to Charleston over and over again, some for more than 12 years.

The results of this one party domination have been 1) our young people are forced to seek employment elsewhere, 2)increasing poverty, 3) a crisis in the medical field, 4) increased taxes, 5) a crisis in workers compensation, and 6) a state budget out of control.

Fixing the economic climate of West Virginia must be of the utmost priority. These changes will occur slowly so our state must become financially responsible to the citizens immediately. The longer we continue in the current economic direction, of over taxation and no governmental accountability, the harder it will be to improve things for the generations to come. When we have created a climate that promotes the growth of our economy there will be more jobs, even union jobs. Schools will start to see increased enrollment instead of a decline. Tax dollars, by more paying less, will increase services and pay for all.

The strategy that we have in Charleston is not working. Failed leadership and failed policies continue to keep West Virginia from prosperity. Democracy requires differing opinions, debate, and accountability. I feel we deserve better representation and results.

We are at a crossroads for West Virginia. New ideas and new people are needed in Charleston to improve our state. To move West Virginia forward I need your help and vote. I am running for office because I feel I can make a difference. We must take a new direction for improving West Virginia, together we can.

"MAKE A DIFFERENCE, MAKE A CHANGE"
